His Highness Sheik Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassmi, Member of the
supreme council and ruler of Sharjah , opened the center in 26 April 2007
The center which is located near the University City hall in Sharjah , can be
considered unique in that all of its content s originate from His Highness Sheik
Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassmi collections
His research resources on Gulf subjects have been brought together over a period
of 25 years and can now be used by other researchers . they include several
sections .

Situated around the library area are fine models of local dhows and
the ships played a major role in the history of European trading and political
