The notes above relating to the Gulf Countries apply equally to the
exhibits in this Hall that portray the local area before the
establishment of the United Arab Emirates. They include rare photographs
from the early twentieth century, images of Portuguese forts in the 17th
century, detailed watercolors of the British attack on this region in
1819 and features, from the same period, a series of maps of the ports
of Ras al-Khaimah, Jazirat al-Hamra, Umm al-qaiwain, Ajman and Sharjah.
The collection includes images ranging from the early 19th to the
mid-20the century. As well as some rare manuscripts and books on the
history of the UAE- including the important early work by His history
the Ruler, the myth of Arab Piracy.
