Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Center launched the “Science Degree” project to highlight the academic degrees obtained by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, from prestigious educational institutions around the world. The project will continue for a full year, starting in November 2024, during which a selection will be made. A collection of academic certificates obtained by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah.
The project went back to the year 1985, when His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, obtained a doctorate in philosophy in history with distinction from the British University of Exeter for his thesis titled (The Myth of Arab Piracy in the Arabian Gulf between 1797 and 1820).
As part of His Highness’s relationship with the university academically, His Highness received members of the University of Exeter Alumni Association in May 2007, where Professor Steve Smith, Director of the University of Exeter, praised the efforts of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Supreme President of the Scientific and Research Universities of Sharjah and the American University, in the history of the Gulf region, which corrected and clarified many historical facts and opened wide doors. For knowledge in this field, we appreciate His Highness’s contribution to students of science and to academic, educational and research institutions everywhere.
In 2012, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah visited the University of Exeter in Britain, and His Highness met with the late Queen Elizabeth of Britain during the inauguration of the new main building for the Student Forum at the University of Exeter.
The “Scientific Degree” project comes as a continuation of the initiatives of the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Department to shed light on aspects of the various scientific, cognitive and intellectual achievements of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, as the Department previously launched the “Prize Story” initiative and continued for a full year to introduce A number of prestigious honors and awards received by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah.
