As part of its monthly \u2018Award story\u2019 series, Dr Sultan Al Qasimi Centre is celebrating this month the prestigious Baden-Powell Medal, presented to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on February 5, 2016, and the global scouting movement that represents universal principles of leadership, service to humanity and social responsibility.<\/p>\n
The Baden-Powell Medal, the highest World Scouting community honour awarded by King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Honorary President of the World Scout Foundation, had been conferred on His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for his pioneering role in supporting the Scouting movement in the region and around the world.<\/p>\n
The awarding of the Baden-Powell Medal to the Ruler of Sharjah was a powerful recognition of his extensive contributions to the Scouting movement worldwide. He has played a key role in strengthening this movement, nurturing young leaders, and providing an environment in which the passion for exploration and adventure is transformed into skills to serve society, self-improvement and strengthening the spirit of responsibility.
\nThe prestigious international recognition reaffirms the global scouting community\u2019s appreciation of the role played by the Ruler of Sharjah in supporting scouting initiatives that hone young people\u2019s personalities, build their bodies and minds and arms them with essential life skills, values and principles and opening opportunities to engage in building society.<\/p>\n
Choosing the Sharjah Ruler for the global honour also underscores the status of the Emirate as a global centre for empowering youth, developing leadership skills as well as instilling in them a love of learning, exploration, and community service.<\/p>\n
The Ruler of Sharjah is the fourth international figure to be receive the Baden-Powell Medal, an invaluble token of appreciation and support by the World Scout Committee for the Emirate and its leader.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t
